1 (865) WETTIG, Unknown, was the progenitor of a group of Wettigs who have emigrated from the birthplace in Darmstadt, Hesse, to Kansas in the USA. William had three sons. We will initiate research in the Darmstadt records during the coming year to determine the origin of this Wettig Family.
2 (866) Adam WETTIG, son of Unknown Wettig, was born in Darmstadt, Hesse, in 1832. He married (897) Jocobina BORNGESSER. They had two children after their emigration to Kansas, USA.
3 (898) Christina WETTIG, daughter of Adam and Jocobina (Borngesser) Wettig, was born in Kansas, in 1864. She married a (1295)Gueck.
3 (899) George WETTIG, son of Adam and Jocobina (Borngesser) Wettig, was born in Kansas, in 1867.
2 (864) William WETTIG, son of Unknown Wettig was born in Darmstadt, Hesse, in 1835. He married Mary Unknown (902), who was born in Wisconsin, in 1837. William emigrated to the USA but the details are not known. He died in 1910. Mary died in Leavenworth, Kansas in 1922. William and Mary Wettig had 7 children.
3 (870) William WETTIG Jr., son of William and Mary Wettig, was born in Leavenworth, Kansas in 1864. He married (871) Elizabeth BECKER and they had two sons. William Jr., was the oldest of the seven Wettig children and he was the one chosen to accompany his father on cattle drives north from Texas. On one of these drives in 1890, he became sick and died, at age 26.
4 (872) William Phillip WETTIG, son of William, Jr. and Elizabeth Wettig, was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1888. At five years of age, he climbed onto the roof of a shed, fell through the rotten timbers and broke his back, leaving him crippled for life. He worked in a law office as a young man, studied for and passed the bar exam and became probate judge in Leavenworth County. He held this position until his death in 1932 at age 44. He never married.
4 (873) Edward Frederick WETTIG, son of William, Jr. and Elizabeth Wettig, was born in Leavenworth, Kansas. Edward married Marie Aileen Faber in 1927 in Leavenworth, Kansas. In 1915 he established the Superior Printing Company. He was active in this business until his death in 1971, a period of 56 years. Edward and Elizabeth had two children.
5 (875) Shirley Elizabeth WETTIG, daughter of Edward Frederick and Marie Aileen (Faber) Wettig, was born in Leavenworth, Kansas in 1931. She died of pneumonia at age 3, in 1934.
5 (876) Edward Frederick WETTIG Jr., son of Edward Frederick and Marie Aileen (Faber) Wettig, was born in Leavenworth, Kansas in 1936. Edward married Rosemary Schrey in Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1965. He runs the business his father started 78 years ago, in 1915, The Superior Printing Company. Ed and Rosemary still live in Leavenworth and have two children. Ed provided most of the information contained in this genealogy about the Kansas Wettigs.
6 (878) Edward Frederick WETTIG III, son of Edward Frederick, Jr. and Rosemary Wettig, was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1965.
7 (880) Mitchell Edward WETTIG, son of Edward Frederick Wettig III, was born in 1993.
6 (879) Julie Ann WETTIG, daughter of Edward Frederick Jr.. and Rosemary Wettig, was born in Leavenworth, Kansas in 1968. She married (881) GNEFKOW, and they have one son.
7 (882) Ryan M GNEFKOW, son of Unknown and Julie Ann (Wettig) Gnefkow, was born in 1993.
3 (883) Harry WETTIG, son of William and Mary Wettig, was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1867. He died in Leavenworth in 1942. He had four sons. Three of these lived on farms in the Valley Falls area, just west of Leavenworth.

4 (892) Harold WETTIG, son of Harry Wettig, was born in 1895 in Leavenworth, Kansas. He died in Leavenworth in 1924.
3 (884) Edward Frederick WETTIG, son of William and Mary Wettig, was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1869. He married (901) Minnie. Note from Ed Wettig in 1994: "Edward lived to be more than 90 years old. He lived in Valley Falls, Kansas. They had a son, Carl, who had two sons and two daughters. One of these sons, Harold, of Austin, TX. Will be corresponding with you soon." (I have not heard from him yet, and that was 1994!
4 (893) Carl WETTIG, Son of Edward Frederick and Minnie Wettig. Carl had two daughters and two sons. One of these sons, Harold, was living in Austin, TX in 1994.
3 (885) Ida E WETTIG, daughter of William and Mary Wettig, was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1876.She married (894) Fred RUDER who was a harness maker in Leavenworth. They had no children. Ida died in Leavenworth in 1962.
3 (888) Mayme WETTIG, daughter of William and Mary Wettig, was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1879. She married (896) Albert Schroeder who was a Pharmacist in Neenah, Wisconsin. They had a son, Robert, who is a rancher in Montana. Mayme died in Leavenworth in 1964. Special Note: Does Jack Wettig, Covington, have a picture of a Mamie Schroeder, cousin to one of the Wettigs of the Cincinnati-Covington area? I have written to Jack to get additional information about this.
3 (887) Emily WETTIG, daughter of William and Mary Wettig, was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1881. Emily married (895) Albert Evans, who owned a Machine shop and two car agencies in Leavenworth. Emily died in Leavenworth in 1962.
3 (886) Arthur S. WETTIG, son of William and Mary Wettig, was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, on 1 Jul 1894. Arthur S. married (903) Birdie DIETRICH, in Leavenworth. He worked with his brother in law, Fred Ruder, in the harness business in Leavenworth and later in Kansas City. He had twin daughters, Doris Wilhite and Clovis Flora. I do not know if these are married names or given names. Arthur died in Leavenworth on 15 Mar 1969.
2 (867) Theodore WETTIG, son of Unknown Wettig, was born in Darmstadt, Hesse. He had a daughter,
3 (868) Henrietta WETTIG, was the daughter of Theodore Wettig. She married John BIRBIRECK. She died in Leavenworth, Kansas on 29 May 1878. Her Great Granddaughter, Susan Kelly, supplied this information.
