About the Newsletters

This Page is still under construction.

The researcher, Harry Wettig, has published four editions of a Newsletter, Wettigs of America, since 1993. These Newsletters reported on the basic research done by Herr Ritter, a professional genealogist in Hannover, and Frau Pittlik, a sachbearbeitung of the Stadtkirchenverband Evangelisch-lutherisch also in Hannover, Germany. This research was enhanced by the letters received from newly discovered Wettigs throughout the country as the word of the work was communicated nationwide.

Wettigs of Amerika,1st Edition, Published in June 1993

Wettigs of Amerika, 2nd Edition is not included. It is a series of Genealogical Charts which is being updated.

Wettigs of Amerika, 3rd Edition, Published in April 1994

Wettigs of Amerika, 4th Edition, Publlshed in July 1995

In April 1996, I changed the name of the Newsletter to Wettigs World Wide. This came as a result of a contact made by Thomas Wettig of Friedberg, Germany. Tom opened a new avenue for research and helped to solve many of the mysteries of the Wettigs of Southern Illinois and their relationship to his (Tom's) family which still lives in Germany. These investigations dicovered many new family lines and established contact with Wettig Families in Canada, Germany and the United States. The International Mail List for the newsletter is now more than 165 Families. Since that time there have been three additional Newsletters.

WWW 1st Edition, Published in March 1996

WWW 2nd Edition, Published in April 1997

WWW 3rd Edition, Published in October 1997 (The Reunion Edition)

There has been no publication of the Wettigs World Wide Newsletter since 1997. Information continues to come in small pieces about the growth of the family, but very little new information has been discovered about the roots. Continuance of the newsletter will depend on the amount of interest wexpressed by members of the family. I would appreciate comments on that.
