In the beginning - at least Our Beginning
1 Johann Heinrich and Ilsa Dorothee (Reßmayer) Weddeke (Wettig), also spelled Weddeken in some records, are the first generation of the Wettig Family that has been identified in research of 1993 to 1999. Information from the research of the Stadtkirchenverband Evangelisch-lutherisch Hannover in November 1996 shows that the name was spelled Weddeke in some places, Weddeken in others and Wettig in a record that lists him as a retired soldier (1746). He married Ilse Dorothee Reßmeyer(1303) on the 13 of May 1741. They had four children:

The surname was changed in the records of the Church. Her birthdate is unknown, but she died on 26 June 1752 in Neustadt am Rübenberge. 2 Johann Christian Wettig (1363) was the second son of Johann Heinrich (1302) and Dorothea (Reßmeyer) (1303) Wettich. The surname was changed in the records of the Church. He was born in Scharrell, which is the forerunner of the town of Basse, in 1744 and died in Scharrel on 16 March 1859 at age 15. It is not certain that this record is correct. It may be that another Johann Heinrich Wettig was the father of this boy. 2 Hans Heinrich Wettig (1306) was the third son of Johann Heinrich (1302) and Dorothea (Reßmeyer) (1303) Wettich. The surname was changed in the records of the Church. He was born in Neustadt am Rübenberge 22 Nov 1748. We have no further informatiion about him.
2 Johann Jürgen Wettig (786) Continues the Wettig Family
2 Anna Luise Charlotte Wettig (1305) was the only daughter of Johann Heinrich (1302) and Dorothea (Reßmeyer) (1303) Wettich. The surname was changed in the records of the Church. Her birthdate is unknown, but she died on 26 June 1752 in Neustadt am Rübenberge.
2 Johann Christian Wettig (1363) was the second son of Johann Heinrich (1302) and Dorothea (Reßmeyer) (1303) Wettich. The surname was changed in the records of the Church. 2 The records of the Stadtkirchenverband Evangelisch-lutherisch in Hannover. show that the spelling of the name was changed from Wettich to Wettig in the registration of the children of Johann Jürgen and Marie Dorothee. There are 270 identified direct descendants of this marriage.
Johann Jürgen (786) and Marie Dorothee (Stucke) (787) Wettich were members of the Evangelisch-lutherisch Kirche (Lutheran Church). Records of the Church do not contain information about their lives. The only information we have is that they both died "before 1816." Johann was Amtspförtner (Amstsdiener) (I believe this translates to Gatekeeper) in Neustadt am Rübenberge, a small town just 32 Km northwest of Hannover in Prußia.
Marie Dorothee was the daughter of Jürgen Stucke(989), born in 1700 and died on 25 January 1758 in Metel, and Marie M Annemann(990), born October 1702 and died 5 May 1750 in Metel.
